Our Registration Process

Our registration form is a method of collecting essential information about you including contact information and the type of program you may be interested in pursuing with Maple Wings. This also allows MWFC to manage events or services and streamline processes which ultimately lead to a better organization and a smoother experience for aviators.

Step 1

Complete our Registration Form.

Step 2

A Maple Wings Flight Centre representative will contact you in order to schedule a trial / introductory flight. After your flight, a meeting with our Chief Flight Instructor will be arranged in order to discuss and plan your aviation adventure. You will be assigned an Instructor and be requested to provide copies of the following documents prior to your first flight:

  • Valid Canadian Category 1 Medical
  • Valid Passport Copy or Birth Certificate (if Canadian)
  • Provide Valid English Language Results - IELTS (Require a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 in each band and an overall IELTS score of 6.5 and above) or having completed High School in Canada

Step 3 (International Students only)

International students can only be accepted into the Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) or Instructor Rating (IR) training programs offered at Maple Wings Flight Centre. In order for an international student to be able to apply for a Canadian Student Visa, the student must be accepted by Maple Wings Flight Centre. Once all required information and documents have been received and approved by Maple Wings Flight Centre, a Letter of Acceptance (LOA) issued by the Operations Manager will be issued. The LOA will be granted after the candidate has passed a video conference interview with a designated representative of Maple Wings Flight Centre. It will then be determined if the international student qualifies and is accepted into the appropriate program. A signed training contract will be required to be completed as required by Ontario Career Colleges Acts, 2005.

Step 4 (International Students only)

In order to confirm your registration and provide you with a Letter of Acceptance (LOA) a deposit of $5,000 CAD will be required by Maple Wings Flight Centre. This fee is refundable less $500 CAD if the candidate is denied a study permit by the Government of Canada.

The international student should apply for a Study Permit (Student Visa) using their LOA. The Study Permit application process can vary by country, so the application process should be started well in advance of your intended start date. Typically, the study permit application process can take a few weeks and up to four (4) months after submitting the documentation to Immigration. More delays can result if there are errors or missing documents and fees. Maple Wings Flight Centre is not responsible for the outcome of the application.

Finding Accommodations

Maple Wings Flight Centre encourages international students to explore the diverse housing options available in St. Thomas. From cozy apartments to shared houses, students can find comfortable and affordable accommodations to suit their needs and budget. We recommend utilizing online platforms and local real estate agencies to connect with landlords and potential roommates.

It is the responsibility of the student to find housing and transportation while attending the school. The Flight Centre has a limited number of accommodation spaces available to international students on a first come basis if spots are available. Currently, public transit does not bring students to the airport grounds. Our most successful students tend to be those that are able to secure their own car and obtain a Canadian drivers licence. Being punctual for your lesson is important for effective and efficient training.

Health Insurance

It is mandatory that international students obtain their own health insurance when in Canada. You will be required to have health insurance prior to beginning your program.

MWFC does not provide International Student Health Insurance however students could refer Insurance Providers such as Manulife.ca
